You need the Swiss annual vignette for every Swiss motorway and expressway (Autobahn/Autostrasse). There's no day or week variant. Since 1 August 2023, alongside the traditional sticker there's also an e-vignette, digitally linked to your number plate, and we supply exclusively this modern, digital version.
Our price includes the service fee for direct, digital linking to your number plate, with support in English. No hidden costs at checkout.

Checks are carried out automatically via number-plate recognition along the Swiss motorway, and on a spot-check basis by customs at border crossings. Without a valid vignette you risk a fine, on top of the cost of the vignette you'll still have to buy on the spot. So make sure your annual vignette is active before you enter the Swiss Autobahn or Autostrasse. Allow for the validity period above.
The vignette is mandatory for using Swiss and Liechtenstein motorways and expressways (Nationalstraßen); no vignette is needed on ordinary roads outside this network. Cars and motorcycles pay the same annual vignette, and a motorhome without a trailer also falls under the regular annual vignette for a car — the higher motorhome price you see in the price table only applies to the combination with a separately registered trailer or caravan. That's because, unlike in most other countries on this site, every vehicle with its own number plate, including a caravan or trailer, needs its own vignette in Switzerland; only a trailer towed behind a motorcycle is exempt from this.
Switzerland has no day, week or month vignette. There is only an annual vignette, at a fixed price of CHF 40 (from € 72.95 with us, including service). This applies even if you're only driving through Switzerland for a single day.
The vignette is valid for a maximum of 14 months: from 1 December of the preceding year through 31 January of the year after. Our current annual vignette is valid through January 2027.
Yes. In Switzerland, a motorhome without a trailer pays the same annual vignette as a car. The higher motorhome price you see in our price table only applies to the combination with a separately registered trailer or caravan (two vignettes combined).
Yes. In Switzerland, every vehicle with its own number plate needs its own vignette, including a registered trailer or caravan. For a motorhome with a trailer, we therefore charge a combined rate (2× CHF 40) from € 109.95.
Yes. Unlike most other countries on this site, Switzerland has no separate, cheaper motorcycle category: a motorcycle pays exactly the same annual vignette as a car.
Yes, and that's an exception compared to most other countries on this site. In Switzerland, every vehicle with its own number plate, including a caravan or trailer, needs its own annual vignette. If you're towing a trailer or caravan behind your car or motorhome, you therefore buy two vignettes: one for the towing vehicle and one for the trailer. A trailer towed behind a motorcycle is the exception here and remains exempt.
Yes, every vehicle needs its own vignette, linked to its own number plate. There is no family or combination vignette for multiple cars at once.
Yes, the Swiss vignette is also valid on the vignette-required roads in Liechtenstein, as the two countries share the same vignette system.
The vignette is mandatory for using Swiss and Liechtenstein motorways and expressways (Nationalstraßen). Ordinary roads outside this network are vignette-free.
If you're caught without a valid vignette, via camera or a check, you risk a fine of around CHF 200, on top of buying the vignette itself, which you'll still have to purchase. So expect a significantly higher amount than if you buy a vignette in advance.
No, that's not possible in Switzerland. There is only an annual vignette, even if you're only in the country for a few days.
Switzerland now has both the classic sticker vignette and the digital e-vignette side by side. Through EuropeVignettes.eu you buy the e-vignette: it's linked to your number plate, so you don't need to stick anything to your windscreen. Checks are carried out via number-plate recognition and spot checks.
The vignette stays valid through the stated end date (end of January of the following year), even if you don't use it during the current calendar year. If you only drive to Switzerland early next year, your vignette is usually still valid, but always check the exact end date shown with your purchase.
In practice, you as the driver are responsible for this yourself, unless the rental company explicitly arranges it for you. Apply for the vignette using the rental car's number plate and copy it exactly as shown on the registration document or rental agreement — you usually only find out the final number plate once you pick up the keys.
No, a vignette is linked to one specific number plate. If your lease car changes (and the number plate with it), a vignette on the old number plate isn't automatically valid for the new car. If you've recently had a change, always check that the number plate on your vignette still matches your current car.
